Few days late on this one, but after finally watching the preview last night I gotta post this ish. After epic fails like Carmen and this atrocity right here I gave up on the idea of a Hip-Hop Opera, but how about one using the words of Nas, Jay-Z, Ghostface, Biggie Smalls, Raekwon, Samuel L. Jackson and more? "A homage to '90's New York Hip-Hop "City Of God's Son" is the redefinition of the remix" does it get any better than that? Above is the trailer for City of God's Son, a re-imagining of New York City hip-hop from the 1990s. It's a soundscape, I suppose. But describing it on my blog is a waste of effort and wholly insufficient. Just go to the site and download the audio. Then sit in a dark room and listen for an hour. It is just beyond dope. You can also read more about the project here. I skimmed this, but I saw that it provided some more background info. Enjoy.

I’ve never seen, heard or witnessed a thing like this before and i’m pretty sure you haven’t either.
It’s a movie. And a mixtape. A musical maybe? It’s not just one of those mixtapes where they take soundbites from a film and scatter them throughout the tape.
Kenzo Digital and his team of geniuses actually built a story around the characters and vocals of Nas, Jay-Z, Ghostface, Biggie, Raekwon, Samuel L. Jackson, Laurence Fishburn and Delroy Lindoe.
